Back pain

Back pain can be a very annoying and restricting problem. There are many possible reasons for back pain but here I'm talking about one of them which has caused me pretty severe lower back pain over the years, hyperlordosis. Hyperlordosis is an excessive lordosis aka. curve on your spine in lower back area. This abnormal spine position can cause excess stress on your lower back allowing your lower back to arch more than normally. Since the basic position of the spine is already really curved in hyperlordosis, any movements and exercises that make your back to arch more can be very painful due to excessive stress on your lower back. If this continues for a long time (like in my case) it can lead to serious and restrictive problems.

I have had lower back pains ever since I was a teenager. Sitting or standing for a longer time, some exercises and dancing used to make my lower back hurt. It felt more like tense muscle pain and disappeared when I changed my position or did some stretching. When getting older I had the pains more often and I always knew it was because of my lower back lordosis that is causing the problem. I just wasn't thinking about it too much even though my dance coaches warned me saying I will have back problems in the future if I won't fix my posture. I tried to keep my lower back straight but it was very difficult because of the body structure of mine so I just forgot to do so as often as I was supposed to..meaning all the time.

This autumn has been very hectic for me and I've been exercising and working a lot. At work I stand all days long which led to very bad back pains recently. Days at work were pure torture and bending over to pick up something on the floor was almost impossible. My lower back was so sore. The pain had changed and now it was stronger and  more sharp and didn't go away with rest or stretching. So I went to doctor's. I found out my lower back is inflamed and the lowest vertebrae are stuck. I got painkillers and sick leave but they helped only a little so I ended up seeing a physical therapist today. She explained how my body works and how important all the deep muscles in my body really are. They support my body, help to keep my back position right and also improve my workouts. Especially deep abdominal muscles and glutes are the key for holding my back together. By trying her exercises I found out those deep muscles of mine are actually really weak even though I go to gym a lot and lift heavy! What a surprise! Those are totally different exercises for training your deep muscles and only now I actually realize the importance of the deep muscles! I knew it's kind of important to exercise them and they help to hold your posture and so on but I never took it as seriously as I should have especially when I had a problem like this I totally ignored. I also found out that by activating your deep muscles you can have more efficient workouts and thus make more progress. This also means booty gains!;)

So now I'm wiser and I will definitely do the exercises my therapist gave me! 2 exercises per day every day. Sounds hard..kind of..haha but I'll include the exercises as a part of my gym routine so that it becomes as a habit.I also will do some squat exercises while brushing my teeth like my therapist told me to! XD hopefully that will work and my pains will slowly disappear. I'll keep you posted how I'm doing with healing my back and I highly recommend for you to pay attention to your posture and deep muscle strength as well! ;)

  1. Now a days lower back pain or hunched back is common issue and its growing day by day. But it can be self diagnosed by using various fitness products like posture corrector, posture brace, recliner chair. I am a body health-fitness guide providing various information on that. https://superhealthguide.tumblr.com/ this is my blog where I am sharing health tips. Hope you like it.
